Brothers and Sisters, Saturday May 11th is election day please remember to go out and vote. There are contested races in District 2, District 4, and District 7. The Mayor's race has a field of eight candidates and there are nine separate amendments to the City Charter. Our endorsed candidates are City Representative Steve Ortega for Mayor and City Representative Carl Robinson for District 4. Both of these candidates have always supported our issues during their time on City Council. The most recent show of support was the vote on our pension issue that ended in a 4-4 vote with Mayor Cook breaking the tie. The yes votes came from Ortega, Robinson, Acosta, and Noe. This vote was very important because it added our pension bill to the City's legislative agenda and was a major factor in getting support from the legislature in Austin. I am happy to report that the bill was voted on yesterday May 9th and was passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 147-0. Getting the bill passed was truly a team effort. I would like to thank Tyler Grossman, our pension chair, as well as all elected members of the pension board, EPMPOA President Ron Martin, L51 Executive Board, State Senator Jose Rodriguez and State Representative Joe Pickett who authored the bill. State Representatives Marisa Marquez, Naomi Gonzalez, Joe Moody, Mary Gonzalez, as well as Mayor Cook and City Representatives Steve Ortega, Carl Robinson, Emma Acosta, and Dr. Michiel Noe for their support. Our political friends really came through on this one. Fraternally, Joe Tellez
