  • Retired Firefighter Carlos Daniel Flores Sr.

    FLORES Carlos Daniel Flores Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, friend, and mentor passed away on June 8, 2012. He was born on June 30, 1939 in El Paso, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, and then found his passion by working for the El Paso Fire Department, where he served 22 years. Thereafter, he spent ten years working for the El Paso County Sherriff's Department. He volunteered at St. Raphael's Catholic School, Ysleta Independent School District, MissionValley Regional Command Center, and Valley View Middle School. He leaves behind six children: Carlos D. Flores Jr., Andres Flores, Guillermo Flores, Carlos D. Flores III, Julie Flores-Campos, and Roman M. Flores; 13 grandchildren, and his brothers Roman and Edward Flores and twin sister Elvia McVay. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Manuel and Gertrude Flores, Sister Rosie Chavez, Brother Manny Flores Jr. and Daughters Yvonne Meadows and Rebecca Flores Stopka. He will be deeply missed by many. The Flores Family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin East. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Evergreen East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Ysleta Independent School District Education Foundation: Rebecca Flores Stopka Memorial Scholarship.
