    Elbert Underwood

    Elbert Sidney Underwood, 85, passed away in El Paso, Texas after a short illness. He was born on February 24, 1924 in Ravenna, Texas, the son of Elbert W. and Beada Watkins Underwood and moved to El Paso when he was stationed at Biggs Airfield during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Louise Underwood. He is survived by his two sons: Dennis Underwood and his wife, Emily and Gary Underwood and his wife, Anne; three brothers, Weldon, Henry and Jack Underwood and one sister Raenell Hodges; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Underwood retired from the El Paso Fire Department after a 30 year career, and at the time of his death operated a horse boarding stable in northeast El Paso. Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm Friday, February 12, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
